“new fictional worlds that become real in the hearing”

That evocative description of Non-Places comes from A Closer Listen. Great thanks to them for including us in their Fall Experimental Music Preview.

international collaboration in one’s own house

It was my great pleasure to have Cristiano Bocci over for an exhilarating afternoon of music this past Saturday. Cris was in the US to work with a mathematician colleague at Auburn, and decided to stop by the Washington DC area on his way back to Italy. I’m delighted that he did. (And it was by an auspicious coincidence that his plane touched down at Dulles Airport the day Avant Music News named our forthcoming Non-places as a pick of the week.)

in advance of the release…

In just a few weeks, Cristiano Bocci and I will be releasing our second collaboration, a collection of electroacoustic music and field recordings exploring the audio topography of atopias, or non-places–public spaces we pass through, use and leave behind more or less anonymously. To accompany the release I’ve written an essay that has just been published on Arteidolia. With photographs by Randee Silv.
