Microeconomics, featuring Ben Redwine on clarinet, Jon Matis on piano, and myself on double bass, is now officially out.

upcoming release preview track

Microeconomics is a set of music clarinetist Ben Redwine pianist Jon Matis and I recorded live in the studio in February 2015. It officially drops on June 30, but you can download a free track from All About Jazz. The track, Microeconomics Part 3a Graphics 5, is a section of our realization of a graphic score I brought with me to the session.

dcic reunion

The beginning of a new year is a good time for fresh starts, but it’s also a good time to renew old bonds. DC Improvisers Collective (DCIC) was the first free improv group I played with when I returned to music in the early 2000s; tomorrow night I rejoin them for a set at Union Arts. The lineup will be Jon Matis on piano; Mike Sebastian on reeds; Ben Azzara on drums; Ben Redwine on clarinet; John Kamman on guitar; and me on double bass.

Here‘s a video excerpt of a 2006 performance of DCIC with Greg Osby.
