In 1921, Futurist musicians Mario Bartoccini and Aldo Mantia wrote a manifesto extolling free improvisation, foreshadowing a turn in music that really wouldn’t come to fruition for another few decades. In the new Perfect Sound Forever I’ve translated their manifesto and written some commentary on it.
