This is the name of an intriguing series the British Library is sponsoring. The Library has release a million images to Flickr Commons, and has invited musicians and sound artists to select an image and interpret it in sound. I’ve created a piece for prepared double bass and object continuo, inspired by the image shown here.


meta+hodos, fifty years later

Fifty years ago James Tenney published Meta+Hodos, an essay on musical perception as seen from the perspective of Gestalt psychology and phenomenology. A fascinating approach, and one that opens up fruitful perspectives onto the structure of new music. I’ve written a brief piece on Tenney’s essay for Percorsi Musicali.
